Age Suitability

Overview

StatHoops is a youth and AAU basketball stat-tracking and team management platform built for coaches, players, and parents. The app is rated 12+ and is designed to be appropriate for middle-school-aged players and older, while also being fully suitable for the adult coaches and parents who primarily operate it.

The content in StatHoops is sports-focused: box scores, practice plans, schedules, rosters, and coach-to-team communication. The app contains no gambling, no advertising, no mature themes, and no user-generated public content feeds.

Why 12+ (and not 4+)

Even though StatHoops does not contain any objectionable material, we chose a 12+ rating to reflect the following:

• Team messaging. StatHoops includes private team chat between coaches, players, and parents. Because this involves user-generated messages, a 12+ rating is appropriate. All chats are private to the team — there are no public chat rooms or strangers.
• Account-based use. Creating and managing a team, roster, or player profile is typically done by coaches and parents. Younger players generally participate through a parent- or coach-managed account.
• Infrequent web links. The app may link out to our website (for example, game share pages and support pages). Infrequent/mild access to web content is reflected in a 12+ rating.

What StatHoops Does Not Contain

• No violence, gore, or mature themes
• No sexual content, nudity, or suggestive themes
• No profanity or crude humor in app content
• No simulated or real gambling
• No alcohol, tobacco, or drug references
• No horror or fear-themed content
• No third-party advertising or ad networks
• No public social feed or discovery of strangers
• No in-app purchases targeted at minors

Protections for Younger Users

StatHoops is designed so that players under 13 are only added to the platform by a coach or parent, and their participation is limited to their own private team. Specifically:

• Player profiles for minors are created and managed by a coach or parent/guardian.
• Team chat is scoped to a single team. There is no way to discover, follow, or message users outside your team.
• We do not sell personal data and do not run third-party ads.
• Coaches and parents can remove players and delete data at any time.

Parental Guidance

We recommend that parents review their child's team participation and messaging activity, the same way they would with any team communication tool. Parents who have questions about how their child's data is used, or who want to request deletion of their child's information, can contact us at any time.
